SAMHSA Convenes Experts to Tackle Psychedelic Data Gaps

Dozens of experts met in D.C. last week under the auspices of SAMHSA’s two-day consultation, titled ‘Addressing Data Gaps to Monitor the Expanding Use and Misuse of Psychedelics in the U.S.’.

Attendees included federal agency representatives as well as psychedelic researchers, state regulators, and entrepreneurs. Drug development companies were not invited.

We cannot disclose the contents of that meeting, though attendees explored the current ‘mosaic’ of data sources surrounding psychedelic use (both in regulated and unregulated contexts) and identified potential gaps, opportunities to harmonise data collection and reporting methods, and future areas of potential work.
