While patent applications are kept secret for at least 18 months after filing, many companies opt to announce them. This has certainly been the case in the past year, as psychedelics companies have announced a flurry of provisional patent applications pertaining to psilocybin.

There are some important points to be aware of when reviewing our tracker. Given that our knowledge of these filings relies on public declarations from the companies involved (e.g., press releases), and that the contents of patent filings tend to be sensitive, details are often sparse. Where it is clear that an announcement refers to an application that was just filed, we state that in the chart. For these, we should not expect them to be made public for at least 18 months from the date listed. For others, the announcement is unclear when the application was actually filed. Of course, there is no requirement for the filing of a patent application to be announced at all, and many companies may be operating in stealth—so there are likely additional applications not included below.

As such, this psilocybin patent filings tracker does not claim to be comprehensive. Any suggestions or comments are welcome: patents@psychedelicalpha.com.
